selectvenue On December 9, 2021, Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif exchanged vows in a magnificent wedding ceremony. Much to the delight of their friends and followers, the ecstatic celebrity couple took to Instagram to showcase pictures from their wedding in Rajasthan.
When it started?
The rumour is that it all began on Karan Johar’s talk show Koffee with Karan, however the precise when and how are unknown. In a 2019 episode, when Johar questioned Kaif about her dream co-star for her upcoming picture, the actor praised Kaushal. When Kaushal joined Ayushmann Khurrana on the show months later, Johar told him the same thing, and the shocked actor pretended to pass out with excitement. Following this, despite refusing to acknowledge their relationship, Kaif and Kaushal were spotted together at award ceremonies and several Bollywood gatherings.
Venue
The Six Senses Fort Barwara in Rajasthan is where the couple wed. It is a magnificent fort from the fourteenth century that is owned by the Rajasthan Royal Household. The hotel is located inside the walls of the old fort and includes 48 newly built one-bedroom units, including five specialty apartments. To complement the historical context of the fort, each apartment is designed in a contemporary Rajputana style. The Barwara State Room and The Zenana Mahal, where some wedding festivities took place, are two stunning venue settings at Six Senses Fort Barwara in addition to the expansive courtyards and gardens.
The wedding celebrations for Kaif and Kaushal lasted for three days. First in line was the sangeet on December 7, followed by the bride-to-be’s mehandi on December 8. The wedding was held on December 9.
Mehandi
#VicKat kick started their pre-wedding festivities with the vibrant mehendi ceremony full on Punjabi style. For the Mehendi ceremony, Katrina Kaif & Vicky Kaushal chose the Sabyasachi designed outfits.
For the mehendi ceremony, Katrina Kaif wears a multi-coloured matka silk lehenga with a patchwork blouse and an embroidered tulle dupatta inspired by Sabyasachi’s graduation collection Kashgaar Bazaar. The collection found its muse in the diversity of India’s regional folklore, crafts and nomadic culture, and layers cheent prints with hand-fringed embellishments, brass sequins and heavily embroidered borders.
The lehenga is paired with eclectic Navratan inspired jewellery that pays homage to the celestial gems in emeralds, uncut diamonds, multi-coloured sapphires, pearls, spinels, tourmalines and rubies. Vicky Kaushal wears an embroidered raw silk bandhgala jacket with coromandel chintz prints, a mint silk kurta with embroidered butis and a Bangalore silk ivory salwar.
Haldi
After the fun-filled mehendi night, Katrina Kaif & Vicky Kaushal had a haldi function. For the Haldi ceremony, the couple again decked up in Sabyasachi outfits. Bride Katrina Kaif look refreshing in Sabyasachi ivory organdy lehenga with gota and tilla embroidery, and an organza dupatta in gota and marori embroidery, trimmed with kiran.
She paired the outfit with dry floral jewellery, from kaleere with bangles, ring and jhumkas with sahara strings that complimented her look ! For Haldi ceremony, the groom Vicky Kaushal too opted a Sabyasachi outfit. He wore a Sabyasachi embroidered khadi kurta and salwar for Haldi function.
Katrina Kaif pays tribute to her mother’s British heritage during the pre-wedding festivities. Sabyasachi conceptualised and created a vintage-inspired couture sari with a trailing veil. Silhouetted like a white wedding gown, the pastel tulle sari is embellished with hand-cut English flowers, embroidered by craftswomen from Bengal and liberally sprinkled with semi precious gems and crystals. The sari is paired with a statement uncut diamond choker detailed with opals and pale Russian emeralds, with matching earrings. The groom wears a Bangalore silk embroidered sherwani and matching churidar with Sabyasachi gold plated Bengal Tiger buttons and custom made juttis.
Wedding
The couple tied the knot under the Rajasthani sun and had a romantic exchange of varmalas. Katrina was all smiles looking resplendent in a classic Sabyasachi Mukherjee red lehenga meticulously crafted in handwoven matka silk, sporting a veil that was trimmed with handmade kiran as an homage to Vicky’s Punjabi roots. Her beautiful bridal entry is one to remember with her sisters, who she calls her pillars of strength, all dressed in baby pink outfits, walking her down the aisle under a mogra and baby’s breath laden phoolon ki chaadar.
Vicky, dressed in an off white embroidered Sabyasachi sherwani, chivalrously bowed down for his bride to receive a garland crafted out of mogras. Taking their pheras hand in hand, the couple was witnessed smiling throughout the wedding ceremony. Top B-town stars were not present at the celebrations as this was an intimate family and close friends affair. All the family members from both sides were hosted at the wedding venue, while some guests including designer Sabyasachi were put in Raj Vilas or Amanbagh in Jaipur. The wedding crews stayed at the Vivanta property in Sawai Madhopur.
