Even though the two met while working together, national award-winning actor Rajkummar Rao fell in love with Patralekha the moment he first saw her on TV in a commercial. But although they were both engaged in the same project, they developed a close connection that took some time to blossom into love. And while they helped one another through the challenges of breaking into Bollywood, their relationship only became stronger with time and developed into love. The Oberoi Sukhvilas Spa Resort, a tranquil location at the foothills of the Himalayas that is surrounded by more than 8,000 acres of protected natural forest, was the venue of the couple’s intimate wedding.

The couple chose to throw a white wedding where they also exchanged rings two days prior to the conventional Indian wedding; a video of this wedding went viral online. In a white bandh gala and matching sneakers, Rajkummar got down on one knee to propose to Patralekhaa, who then got down on one knee to give him a ring as well! The couple danced the waltz to Ed Sheeran’s beautiful song “Perfect” as they were cheered on by their loved ones as they exchanged rings. The bride was a true vision as she wore a gorgeous silver handcrafted Kasab corset with a flowy side-slit white skirt and big train. Her beautiful ensemble was finished off by a pretty translucent veil with a thick silver border. The matching diamond bracelets and necklaces she wore as accessories sparkled as brightly as the tiny fairy lights that decorated their white wedding. Actors Saqib Saleem, Huma Qureshi, and director Farah Khan also contributed to the event’s added glitz.

The wedding was incredibly magical, to put it mildly. It was filled with hearty laughs and tonnes of love. The images serve as proof! Sharing the same on Instagram, RajKummar Rao wrote, “Finally, after 11 years of love, romance, friendship and fun, I got married to my everything today, my soulmate, my best friend, my family. Today there is no greater happiness for me than being called your husband Patralekhaa Here’s to forever .. and beyond.”

Patralekhaa adopted a conventional bridal appearance, with a red tulle-embroidered buti sari and a golden-accented embroidered veil. She wore large earrings, a matching mathapatti, jhumkis, and a delicate nath, all of which were created in 22k gold with uncut emeralds, diamonds, and pearls by Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery. The traditional white and crimson Chandan bindis from Bengal were even placed on the bride’s forehead. However, her custom-embroidered veil ended up being the focal point of her ensemble. The actress had the Bengali phrase “Aamar praanbhora bhaalobaasa aami tomaye somorpan korilam” embroidered on the edge of her veil. It means “I surrender my love-filled heart to you” in English. What a fantastic way to honour both culture and love! In case you were wondering, Sabyasachi himself wrote the verse.

While RajKummar Rao wore a jacket made of embroidered raw silk in ivory with gold-plated Bengal tiger buttons. In order to improve his sense of synchronisation, he placed a red safa over a churidar and Bangalore silk kurta. A Japanese pearl necklace by Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery completed the stunning ensemble worn by the groom.

A combination of marigolds and green foliage was used in the Jaimala. Instead of using the sophisticated and in-demand varmala designs, the pair created an ultra-cool marigold garland.

Following the ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests socialised outdoors at a reception decorated with rustic candelabras and warm yellow fairy lights. The event was a lavish one, attended by their Bollywood friends and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. Patralekhaa, who was wearing a cream and gold zari brocade saree, exuded happiness and kept warm with a lovely shawl, while Rajkummar was handsome in a dark blue velvet suit.
