Ganesh Chaturthi is also known as ‘Vinayak Chaturthi’ or ‘Vinayaka Chavithi.’ The festival is observed in the Hindu calendar month of Bhaadrapada, starting on the shukla chaturthi (fourth day of the waxing moon). The date of the festival varies annually, as per the Gregorian calendar it falls in the month of August or September.
So, when is Ganesh Chaturthi in 2021?
This year, Ganesha Chaturthi falls on Friday, September 10, 2021. Lord Ganesh is also as Vighnaharta (the one who removes obstacles), and hence he is worshipped first before initiating a new venture, work or auspicious beginning like marriage or Griha Pravesh.
