Best ways to shop on a budget.

“SHOPPING”, I am sure a few of my fellow readers must have stopped to read because of the word shopping. As a woman, we may love shopping for clothes. But the guilt factor about the pricing has always been an issue.

At our house I am the lucky one, I work from home so it does not really matter what I wear, so I get to chose comfort. I have to dress up during presentations but that is a rare occasion and my “good” clothes are always in the closet are rarely worn.

A big family shopping spree can go out of budget and here are a few strategies that you can use for saving money. Everyone wants to dress well and be presentable but at the same time, the price should affordable.

Here are some key tactics for minimizing your clothing budget while still dressing well.

THRIFT IT

Thrift stores are a trend now and trust me if you are going for budget shopping, it should start at thrift stores. People give away their clothes to these thrift stores and they are either unused or barely used so why not take advantage of that?

Thrift stores might not have what you exactly want, but sometimes it is okay. If it is not for you you can always go for something else.

OFF SEASON SHOPPING

I think this hack has been followed by generations. I have learned this from my mom, she has always told me if you want to save money buy sweaters in summers and camisoles in winter. They have huge sales on off-season items. You will surely save some pretty cool cash.

DIY

Okay, calm down! You do not have to make clothes on your own but you can always customize your old clothes. Had sewing a button of turning a cardigan in a two-piece set. If you can use a sewing machine, nothing better than that. Hemming a few tops can be a starter.

GLAM UP

Now that you have clothes, glam it up with a few accessories and makeup. The basic yet trendy things that you can include are necklaces, scarves, belts and you can mix it up with so many outfits.

This isn’t just for the ladies, either: Guys can switch it up with differently patterned or colorful socks and ties. Either way, you can get away with spending a lot less to make a new outfit.

FINAL WORDS!

Most of these tactics are common sense on their own, but when they line up together to form a coherent clothing strategy, they tend to reinforce each other and amplify your savings. I have saved a lot and I dress well when I need to and comfortably when I want to.
