Faisal Farooqui, a family friend, tweeted from the actor’s official account: “I announce the demise of our dear Dilip saab a few minutes ago with a heavy heart and profound grief. We come from God and return to him.” Saira Banu, Dilip Kumar’s 54-year-old wife, survives him. People remembered their love storey as one that lasted a lifetime as tributes to the legendary actor flooded in on social media.

When Mohammed Yusuf Khan made his debut in the Hindi cinema industry in 1944, he used the stage name “Dilip Kumar.” Saira Banu, on the other hand, was his junior by 22 years and a huge follower of the great actor.”Dilip Kumar had a thing for me, and I wasn’t simply another woman who had been seduced by him.” It wasn’t a castle in the sky for me since I built my dream on a solid foundation of trust-confidence in myself and faith in God “she said in an interview once.

It is reported that when Dilip Kumar’s Mughal-e-Azam premiered in Mumbai in 1960, Saira Banu, then 16 years old, went to see it only to see her favourite actor. Dilip Kumar, on the other hand, was unable to do so and get it ready for the debut.

Madhubala featured as Anarkali opposite Dilip Kumar as Prince Salim in Mughal-e-Azam – the Dilip Kumar-Madhubala affair, which began when they met while filming Tarana in 1951, ended in spectacular fashion. The performers were cast in B R Chopra’s 1957 film NayaDaur, but filming was hampered when Madhubala’s father allegedly refused to allow her to shoot on location. Mr Chopra sued Madhubala for breach of contract and replaced her with Vyjayanthimala, with Dilip Kumar testifying against Madhubala as the final nail in the coffin.

Asif Farooqui has a lot of love for you. Thank you for this lovely wall artwork on Bandra’s Hill Road. God’s blessings on you.

In his memoir, ‘Dilip Kumar: The Substance and the Shadow,’ the actor recalled his first meeting with Saira Banu, whom he had previously refused to work with due to her age.

“As soon as I exited my car and entered the gorgeous garden that leads to the house, my sight was pulled to Saira, who was standing in the foyer of her new home, looking stunning in a brocade sari. I was caught aback since she wasn’t the little kid I’d avoided working with because I assumed she’d be too young to play my heroine. She had matured into a full woman and was, in fact, more gorgeous than I had imagined.”Time stood still for us when I merely took a step forward and shook her hand.” Take a look at his autobiography.

Saira Banu’s mother, Naseem Banu, who is also an actress, is said to have played cupid for the couple. On October 11, 1966, Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu married. Saira Banu was 22 when she married Dilip Kumar, who was 44 at the time. Their marriage, unsurprisingly, drew a lot of attention, but it has lasted the test of time.

The love tale, on the other hand, was not without its ups and downs. Dilip Kumar married Asma Rehman in 1981. The marriage lasted two years, and the actor later admitted that it was a move he regretted. “Well, there is one moment in my life that I would like to forget and that Saira and I have put into permanent oblivion. “I made the decision under duress because I had met a lady named Asma Rehman at a cricket match in Hyderabad,” he stated.

“I am still head over heels in love with my Kohinoor, Yousuf Sahab, the way I was when I first felt attracted to him as a 12-year-old,” Dilip Kumar said. Saira said of Dilip in 2014. Our marriage has been as excellent and long-lasting as many others that have endured the ups and downs of four decades. There is no such thing as a perfect union. When we are all flawed human beings, how can this happen? A marriage is kept alive by mutual love, respect, and affection.”
